The Shift of Christianity | Thought for the Week

Something to keep in mind…due to the recent historic geographical shift of Christianity’s largest areas of conversion growth, we who work for truly international carriers can be witnesses to people willing to listen to the gospel of Christ like never before.

The last half century has seen a massive increase in the number of people who profess Christ on every continent (except Europe and North America).

The center of Christian gravity has shifted to what has become known as the “Global South” as hundreds of millions of people in Africa, Asia, and South America have embraced the Gospel, often with the help of indigenous, not foreign, missionaries.

Today the leaders of the largest segment of the Church are not in “the West” and the old designation of the Christian faith as a “Western religion,” if it were ever true, is simply no longer accurate in the 21st Century.

Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Matthew 28:18 (ESV)
