What If Reconciliation Isn’t Possible: Limiting Harmful Connections

Is it ever OK, as a Christian, to end a social relationship with a co-worker at the airport and just be “business-only” with them, for at least a season?

When we have truly exhausted efforts at reconciliation with someone and take action to avoid needless continuing harm to ourselves, this is not necessarily wrong.

Neither is realizing our limits and cutting back on a social connection that does not benefit either side of that connection. It may be a legitimate action to at least temporarily end relationships that are truly harmful to us and in which God may not have called us to continue.

Such circumstances can exist, especially when the person in question shows no sign of repentance towards either God or us, over a long period of time.

If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all. Romans 12:18 (ESV)
