Delays, delays, nothing but flight delays!

Part of trust is bearing the discomfort of having to wait. It is one of the most difficult requirements of the Christian life, but it is also one of the most essential.

Our culture conditions us to act as if we are entitled to have what we want when we want it. God does not expect His people to bend to that conditioning. Trust cannot be tried and tested in the believer if instant gratification becomes the pattern of his or her life.

Our perspective tends to link fulfillment with the demand for all things to be given to us at our beck and call. But the appointed time for events in the life of the believer is the prerogative of the One to whom that life has been given.

“For the revelation awaits an appointed time; it speaks of the end and will not prove false. Though it linger, wait for it; it will certainly come and will not delay.”  Habakkuk 2:3 ESV
