Have you ever walked into a situation on the ramp, whether with people or the result of their actions, and not immediately known what’s going on? If you decide to rely on your “gut” to figure it out, beware.
It is spiritually dangerous to assume that we can always accurately discern what is really going on in any given life situation using our own non-divinely assisted opinion. That this is something which even has to be reinforced today in Christians belies the depth to which we have come to trust the accuracy of our own perceptions.
We should know from Scripture that the “human heart is desperately wicked” and, further, “Who can know it?”
When in doubt, trust God’s word, not necessarily your perceptions.
Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered. Proverbs 28:26
