God is not in the habit of making reality fit our idea of what it should be. Accepting hard truths about the difficulties of life in a fallen world is part of what it means to be Christian.
The fact that “life is difficult”, as author M. Scott Peck once began one of his more popular books, is something we must either reconcile ourselves to or we shall find ourselves embittered.
There is no getting around that reality. Remember, though, that whatever the trials we face, the grace of God can make them both bearable and fruitful in the development of our character.
And after you have suffered a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, confirm, strengthen, and establish you. 1 Peter 5:10 (ESV)
