Beautiful Feet

Do you remember the Good News brought to you…how you came to know Jesus as your Lord and Savior? Understanding the words “beautiful feet,” do you recall who it was that had the “beautiful feet” who brought you the Good News? Was it one specific person, or was it several people? In life, we may make bad decisions…sometimes repeatedly, then someone without judgment speaks truth into our life. Were you extremely lost, confused, disoriented, or lacked understanding for your purpose of life? The people who stepped out to share, listen, and be patient with you – there’s a good chance you will never forget them.

My Early Life

For me, growing up as a child, I can say that the beautiful feet were my parents who raised me in a home that was focused on serving God through Christ Jesus in all that we did. My parents were role models by their actions in how they knew best to raise us children. Church, prayer, not degrading us children or people around us, living a simple and practical life were some of the noted areas I recall. However, as I got older, I did allow myself to ponder things or viewpoints of questionable worldly influence. During college years, I read different religious books and wondered if God existed or was limited to one all powerful, omniscient God. At this point in time, I needed “beautiful feet” to bring me understanding and knowledge of what the Good News was. Though I was raised in a Christian family, I had not fully comprehended who God was and how much He cared about me specifically. I hadn’t grasped how God, as Father, loved me and saw me as fearfully and wonderfully made. During and after my college years, I do remember clearly who the “beautiful feet” were who spoke truth into my life with patience and allowed me to know that they were there if I needed them.

However, others of you reading these words, may be having or have had a much different experience than what I had. You might be going through this process at this time, trying to grasp what the Good News is. You may be asking God for guidance as you try to understand and comprehend the teachings of Jesus and why God came to earth.

Good News for Today

As we read the letter from the apostle Paul to the Romans, chapter 10:12-15, I visualize Paul using deductive reasoning, walking back and forth in a room and speaking his thoughts out loud, while Luke writes down Paul’s words to be recorded. He begins with breaking down the walls we might have between people or culture. Sometimes we might think that some people’s cultures are more special than the cultures of other people. The same Lord of all will richly bless anyone who calls on him, that person will be saved.

Starting with verse 12, Paul shares,

“For there is no difference between Jew and Gentile – the same Lord is Lord of all and richly blesses all who call on him, for ‘Everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.’ How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can they preach unless they are sent? As it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring Good News!’”

What About Our Workplace?

Back to the question asked in the beginning, do you recall when you made that decision to give your life to Jesus? Do you recall the beautiful feet of the person(s) who brought you the Good News? Are your feet acting out in faith and being sent wherever you are in the aviation industry? The people you are working with, how can they call on the one they have not believed in? How can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? How can the people you are working with be redeemed through faith, without someone preaching or sharing to them? And how can you preach or share unless you are sent? Might your feet be beautiful because of your desire to bring the Good News to the persons you are encountering in the place God has led you to work in? Only you know the nudging on your heart, where you sense God may be calling you.

Each day, we give God the glory for who He is and worship Him. Hallowed be His name. May God’s kingdom come and His will be done in the lives of those around us here in our workplace, as it is in heaven. Give us the strength and knowledge each day as to when and how to speak. We ask the Holy Spirit to be speaking through us. If there are areas that might be keeping us from bringing the Good News, we need to confess, bring these to God, and ask for forgiveness. We continuously bring our acknowledged weaknesses to the feet of Jesus.

We praise God for all of you as you seek God’s guidance and continuously grow in Christ Jesus. God’s blessings to you.
