The Prayer of the Lonely: How God Answers the Heart’s Cry

FCAP Office

In a sense, Christianity teaches that relationship is everything.

Human beings cannot live without a vertical connection with God and, secondarily, without a horizontal connection with our fellow man. The faith of Jesus Christ is very counter-cultural in this conviction.

Christians are never completely alone because we know God lived with us physically two thousand years ago, lives with us spiritually today, and will one day live both physically and spiritually with us forever.

In addition to this, the church provides us, if sometimes imperfectly, with human relationships that can become incredibly profound through the Spirit of Christ progressively bonding us together in deeper and deeper intimacy.

Turn to me and be gracious to me, for I am lonely and afflicted. Psalm 25:16
