The Lifelong Task: Why Your Spiritual Growth Never Ends

Most airline-related work is hard work. There is also hard work involved in progressing in the Christian life. Thanks be to God that He Himself is the very source of the power we need to do it.

In this life, we must overcome our remaining sinful tendencies through the work of sanctification, a work that, like salvation, also finds its effectiveness in the received power of our Lord. Our task is to focus so on Him that the remaining power of temptation is progressively rooted out of our being. This is a lifelong task and one that likely will not be finished until we stand before our Savior in Glory. In the meantime, we must continue to rely on His grace to fill in the gap between who we are today and who we will be in eternity.

“Therefore, my beloved, as you have always obeyed, so now, not only as in my presence but much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure.” -Philippians 2: 2-13 (ESV)
