“Well done, good and faithful servant … Come and share your master’s happiness!”
Matthew 25:23 NIV
These are undoubtedly the words our dear brother in Christ, Jim Morrissey, heard as he entered the Lord’s presence on December 29, 2024. Jim and his beautiful wife, Nancy, were married for over 68 years. Together they were an integral part of the formation of the FCAP ministry in the early 70’s. At that time, Jim was working at the Delta TOC in Atlanta, where he enjoyed a 34-year career.
When the Iveys first began a Bible study in their home in the early 70’s, Jim and Nancy brought many friends with them to those studies. Along with their daughters Cindy and Kim, they also took on the role of mailing our monthly TRIM TAB publication. They continued faithfully in that role until our first full-time staff came on board in 1980.
But their involvement did not stop there. They loved to travel and participated in numerous FCAP-sponsored tours, one being behind the Iron Curtain and another to Israel. They traveled extensively on their own as well, sharing the love of Christ wherever they went. For more than 25 years, Jim participated in the annual FCAP Ski Adventure in the beautiful Austrian Alps.
They were always a shining light welcoming attendees to our FCAP International Conventions. They helped us so much in providing transportation to and from the Atlanta Airport when training sessions were held at the FCAP Office; they often extended overnight hospitality in their home for FCAPers throughout the world.
Jim was one of those individuals who not only embraced Christ as his personal Lord and Savior but also continued to grow spiritually throughout the years. He was a faithful prayer warrior and encourager in the faith. Together with his wife, he championed the light of Christ to everyone he met along life’s journey. I don’t know that Jim ever met a stranger, and his laugh was contagious.
The story is told that when Jim’s first grandchild, Drew, was born, Jim indoctrinated him into the airline culture. Reportedly, Drews first word was “Delta.” Drew is now a commercial airline pilot, and just days before Jim passed away, he had one more opportunity to fly with his grandson at the helm.
Jim loved his family and left a legacy for them that fills their hearts with joy to this day. He left a wonderful legacy for all of us who knew him and spent time with him, and we thank the Lord Jesus for Jim’s life.
Please continue to uplift the Morrissey family in prayer, especially his dear wife, Nancy, as she adjusts to life in his absence here. We all rejoice that one day we will be reunited with this dear brother.
