Most airline people do not go into commercial aviation to make a lot of money.
That said, many of us still have enough disposable income to get caught up in the Materialism of our times.
Most possessions are not evil in and of themselves. They only become evil when we attempt to find much of the meaning in our lives, and/or a sense of personal worth, from owning ever more of them. Both of these basic human needs can only find their true answer in Jesus Christ.
Materialism, a misplaced faith in things, is a form of idolatry and in the 21st Century it is one into which we can easily fall.
Take care, and be on your guard against all covetousness, for one’s life does not consist in the abundance of his possessions. Luke 12:15 (ESV)
