Those who attend our Workplace Training are asked at the outset to define God’s purpose in their work. In one session, a young man shared how he thought God’s purpose in giving him the airline job was in order to finance his missionary training, so that he could soon become a missionary. The effort it takes to prepare people to become missionaries on a foreign field amounts to thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours. Interestingly, at the end of the training that day, this young man prayed: “Lord, forgive me for not recognizing the opportunity I have to show and share your love and truth with my colleagues at work, as they are just as lost and needy as the people on the foreign mission field. Please help me to be salt and light where you have placed me right now.” So, do you recognize the mission field at work and how are you preparing yourself for it? (PMC) Consider: “Look, I tell you, lift up your eyes, and see that the fields(around you) are white for harvest” (John 4:36).
