In casual conversations within the workplace, it is not uncommon to hear these words, “I have rights.” For Christians, all of our rights (political, social, civil, material) have been relinquished to our Lord Jesus Christ because He knows how best to fight for them. The only right we should keep is “the right to become children of God” (John 1:12). This is referred to as being a “bond servant.” So when Christ sends us to work for the companies that we work for, He is not sending us there to bring a paycheck to share with Him. But rather, He sends us to bring an influence to the workplace environment and glory to His name. (MM) Consider that Christ Himself has done the same thing: “Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bond servant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.” (Philippians 2:5-8)
