On April 16 Paul Curtas (FCAP General Director) and Jake Joseph (Pilot with Republic Airlines) had the
joy of speaking with around 60 students at Grace Christian School in the Tampa area. They talked with the students about living for Christ in their future workplaces. The time was well-received by the students.
Shannon Jipsen has been part of our FCAP family for many years and is a Captain flying for UPS. Several months ago, an article sharing how faith helped Shannon conquer her fear of flying was written by Madelyn Wilbanks and published in The Southeast Outlook. With their permission, we would like to share with you that article entitled
“Letting God Take the Controls”
On March 8 we held another “Engaging at the Workplace” Training (FCAP Workplace Training #2) at the Atlanta Airport. Seven people attended this training, which is a followup to our Workplace Training #1, which they all had attended previously. The training seemed to be very well received. Staff and facilitators also present describe those participating as very attentive, engaging, and interactive. Topics of the four sessions presented were as follows: Perspective in the Work Culture, Reality Thinking at the Workplace, Levels of Engagement, and Your Approach.
If you have attended our Workplace Training #1 (“On the Job…God’s Way”), we encourage you to make plans to attend our next followup session as well. Watch the home page of our web site or the FCAP App for future dates of all of our trainings.
Every year, generally in the Fall, our FCAP Board of Directors come together for a time prayer and discussion as they seek God’s heart, provision, and direction for this airline ministry. This year they met on November 6-7 here in Fayetteville, Georgia. The Board and staff, along with spouses, enjoyed a special time of fellowship, sharing, and prayer over dinner together on Monday evening. The official meeting took place from 8:30 a.m.-5 p.m. on Tuesday. God’s presence was evident as a very full agenda was addressed.
“Membership” in FCAP has been under prayerful discussion and consideration for some time now. At this meeting the Board approved a launch of membership in 2018, and those present became “pioneers” as they were first to sign the official membership document, which includes our “Commitment to Unity” statement. (Pictured l-r above: Joe Ivey, Stephen Watts, LeeAnn Hurrle-Nelson, Jerry Litwiller, Tim Files and Eugene Kraybill. Stephen and LeeAnn were guests at the meeting as prospective Board members.) You will be hearing more from us about “Membership” as we begin the new year. Announcements about other exciting additions and changes in FCAP will be forthcoming as well. Looking forward to seeing what God will do for His glory in the coming days and years.
Many years ago, an airline mechanic acted on his heart desire to share the love and message of Christ with his co-workers. This led to formation of several regular Bible study/prayer groups taking place in the simply surroundings of break rooms at work. What began with only a few meeting together has now turned into usually 15-20 coming together on a regular basis (pictured above). We thank the Lord for those who courageously act on their desire to see others come to Christ and live for Him. If you have such a desire for your own work area and need help in getting things going, please e-mail us or give us a call at (770) 461-9320. We would be delighted to talk with you and help. That is one major reason FCAP exists!
On October 9 we shared about time we spent with Delta pilot Kenny Tipton here at the office … and about his recently released book, My Flight Through Cancer. This week we received word that Kenny had very unexpectedly transitioned from life here among us to his eternal home. We pray for his daughter, parents, and extended family in their loss … and we pray Kenny’s heart desire to help others in their life struggles will be fulfilled as his book continues to be distributed.
