On February 7, 2018 we held another “On the Job…God’s Way” Training (Workplace Training #1) in Atlanta. Participants came from Nevada, Virginia, Alaska, and Atlanta. One attendes described the training as being “relevant and refreshing.” He went on to share, “It reminds you that you are not alone and you have the support system plus prayer partners you can count on … It’s a great fellowship! Truly reviving to see oneness of body of Christ in an airline industry. I recommend FCAP because it embodies what our real godly purpose is despite our airline position and company.”
The FCAP-Munich group hosted a Friday (June 2) barbecue and Saturday (June 3) morning breakfast meeting. Paul & Claudette Curtas enjoyed the special opportunity of visiting with the group and presenting an overview of the new FCAP WorkplaceTraining #2, “Engaging at the Workplace.” It was presented to the group in two sessions, one on Friday evening and one on Saturday morning. A big “thank you” to Ulli & Heinz Stengel for coordinating this, and special thanks to Christian and Ulrike Schaaf for hosting this at their home in Freising. Thank you also for putting some of the group up overnight. Paul writes, “We always enjoy being with this group, and hearing how God is working through them at the workplace.”
On September 15 we had the privilege to be able to conduct our FCAP Workplace Ministry Training in an airport conference room at LaGuardia Airport. It went from 9am to 4pm, and we had representatives from Newark and New York airports, 12 of us in all. Paul and Edward came up from the FCAP office, as well as Monix Mathieu, to help in facilitating the workshops. It was a great day! We look forward to seeing how God is going to use them to be His influence in their workplaces.
On June 29 Paul and Claudette Curtas had the wonderful opportunity to represent FCAP at the Charlotte Airport (CLT) with the American Airlines Christian Employee Group’s Heritage Day. At this all-day event, they had booths displaying memorabilia from the airlines that have merged over the years which make up the present American Airlines. One of the displays was an awesome quilt that had been made from airline t-shirts featured over the years.
The majority of those attending this event were from Charlotte, but other American/US Airways employees came from Raleigh/Durham, Winston-Salem, and Pittsburg to celebrate together in the merging of these companies. The CLT CEBRG team, under the leadership of Danny Carter with Kelly (his wife), did a wonderful job at planning and implementing this event. They were hoping for 50-60 employees to come by the room at the CLT airport and view the displays, meet people and enjoy some apple pie and ice cream. To their surprise, over 200 people came throughout the day.
Because of a growing relationship between the CEBRG and FCAP, the CLT team asked Paul and Claudette to come and set up a display and share about the FCAP ministry and our Workplace Ministry Training. Plans are now underway by the CLT CEBRG group to host this training on November 13-14 for groups in their region. FCAP facilitators will be there to conduct the Workplace Ministry Training.
FCAP MIA (Miami) coordinator, Ana Duarte, along with MIA Airport Head Chaplain, Melvin Payne, hosted a FCAP Workplace Ministry Training on May 5-6 at the Miami Airport. Paul Curtas with his wife, Claudette, conducted the training with a group of around 20 people. Paul said, “It is a great group, and Christ is working through them to bring His gospel to the Miami airline/aviation community.”
Comment: “This training could not have come at better time. It was a much needed encourager and reminder of what our motives and attitudes should be at our workplace. We truly do spend most of our time with co-workers and have made very little or no impact on their lives as believers of Christ. We go around letting the same circumstances and issues stress us out just as much as non-believers and our light is not shining anywhere. The training truly encouraged me to see my workplace as my ministry. I had asked God many times to reveal to me what my ministry was and little did I know that my ministry is my job.” (Maria Diaz, AA-MIA)
Our FCAP General Director, Paul Curtas, was invited to teach our Workplace Ministry Training to high school seniors at Grace Christian School in Brandon, FL. He and Claudette enjoyed the interaction with the 24 students – all in all, a very beneficial day. We appreciate very much Barry and Becky McKeen’s work at Grace, definitely making an impact on our next generation!
Our next Workplace Ministry Training will be held in Miami May 5 -6 with airline/aviation employees.
